MadeBy is live: homeware made from Second Nature hotel waste

Waste does not have to have one life.

On Tuesday 27 October 2026, Lamington Group soft-launched MadeBy, our in-house circular design studio. The shop and story site are live at made-by.studio. Josh Renouf leads the work as Sustainability and Circular Design Manager.

MadeBy turns waste from Second Nature hotels into homeware worth keeping. Four streams leave the hotels every day: coffee grounds from bars and kitchens, HDPE plastic from cleaning and soap bottles, cardboard from deliveries and packaging, and glass from bars, restaurants and rooms. Each stream is kept separate, prepared into a workable material, then designed into lighting, furniture, accessories and objects. Pieces are built with repair, disassembly and future reuse in mind.

The products have to stand on their own. Using waste is the starting point. Good design is what makes them worth keeping. Guests can buy for home. Hotels and businesses can order trade collections, or work with MadeBy to turn their own waste into products.

Second Nature members receive 15% off MadeBy products’ RRP. Delivery is UK only for now.

MadeBy sits inside a longer circularity effort across the group. Spent coffee grounds already appear as lighting and objects in Second Nature spaces. Circular Christmas campaigns have turned Winnie’s coffee waste into ornaments, soap and festive drinks, with money from sales going to local charities. MadeBy is the brand that brings that studio work to a public shopfront.
